| ROOT project was started in the context of the NA49 experiment at CERN. But now it has become a very useful tool for the data analysis domain. The ROOT system provides a set of OO frameworks with all the functionality needed to handle and analyse large amounts of data in a very efficient way. Having the data defined as a set of objects, specialised storage methods are used to get direct access to the separate attributes of the selected objects, without having to touch the bulk of the data. Included are histograming methods in 1, 2 and 3 dimensions, dimensions, curve fitting, function evaluation, minimisation, Geometry modeling, graphics and visualization classes. Fermilab provides support, maintenance and development of the ROOT software for Fermilab ROOT users (CMS, CDF, D0, Minos, MiniBooNE) and to improve the stability of ROOT and CINT, including further development of ACLiC, TTreeFormula and the ROOT I/O sub-system. | |

| VxWorks is a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) from WindRiver. WindRiver also provides development tools like Tornado (IDE), CrossWind (debugger), etc. At Fermilab VxWorks is used in embedded processor boards in FASTBUS and VME. It is used by the SDSS, DART, CDF DA, CDF and D0 SVX projects, as well as independently in the Accelerator Division. OAA provides a lab-wide central location for licence purchase and maintenance, coordination of support and information. |
